Spinal Injury

Spinal injury is an acute injury to the spinal column which can damage the spinal nerves. Patients with spinal nerve damage will need to be under the care of a spinal specialist team to undertake both the acute spinal injury management and then the long term rehabilitation.

Mr Chapple is the Consultant Spinal Surgeon for the Duke of Cornwall Spinal Injury Treatment Centre at Salisbury NHS Foundation Hospital. He works closely with the highly skilled multidisciplinary team.

Mr Chapple performs acute surgical stabilisation and decompression of the spinal cord when required. This may involve complex surgery to the cervical, thoracic or lumbar column.

The Duke of Cornwall Spinal Injury Centre provides care for spinal injury patients in the South and South West of England, a population of about 11 million people.

Mr Chapple is a Trustee of Horatio’s Garden Charity www.horatiosgarden.org.uk supporting patients and their families after spinal cord injury.
